Hi guys! I know it's only been a couple of days and you're very busy, but I was just wondering if you got/read my e-mail applicaton for the online store managing ad? Just very curious~ stay awesome! - E
We’ve been blessed with lots of applications from many interested and awesome people. We’re sorting through them now and trying to plan out the scheduling for it all :D
OK so I’ve been trying to get in contact with any of the members of Block B since I saw them in New York — which was two weeks ago. Basically this means that I’ve been violently sending them DMs on Instagram…
But of course they haven’t accepted my request yet.
I mean they only have <50k…
We spend a lot of time in the week trying to talk to as many of you as possible, via Instagram, YouTube, our site, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. If you’re nice enough to look at our stuff and leave a comment, we don’t want to ignore you :D
Hello there! I'm a Singapore fan and I was wondering might you guys have any plans to come and visit singapore again? I'd totally love to see you guys here! :)
I’m not sure if we have any plans for Singapore this year. We’re doing Narcon at the end of this month, and we’re finalizing our European dates in October, and we miiiiiiight be going back to LA at the end of the year. No plans for anywhere else lately, though. If anyone in Singapore wants to organize it, though, we’ll hop on the next plane instantly. We love Singapore!
I'm going to be in South Korea from late August to mid December and I was wondering if there was any way I would be able to meet you guys? It's partly because of your love for Korea that shines through your informative videos that has made me fall in love with Korea in the first place.
Well, our coffee shop should be open by then, so we’d love to see you there!
HI! Firstly, thanks for helping me get a little more acquainted with Korea than ever before. I'll be moving to Bucheon this late-August, so I need all the help I can get. Secondly, I'll be taking my kittykat with me [YAY!] and am wondering about where to get pet supplies once I arrive. Any help? :3
Hi! And congrats on going to Bucheon! We miss Bucheon, and often think about moving back there. Bucheon’s a great place :D
As for pet supplies, there’s a great 24 hour vet close to Lotte Department Store in Bucheon, on the main street. I don’t know the name or the address, but I know it’s on the main street and close to it, on the same side of the street as the department store itself.
Yeah! Side note: two of our friends are moving out of Bucheon late-August…I wonder if you’re taking their place.
It looks like you guys are having an awesome time in California! I was wondering though... Do either of you have any thoughts on Seth Rogan and James Franco's upcoming new movie The Interview and North Korea's reaction to it?
I’m going to try to say this as carefully as possible, because there’s a lot of ways that this can be misconstrued, but basically I’m not happy with the idea behind the movie.
Even though I’m sure the movie is going to be hilarious, because I find James Franco and Seth Rogen hilarious together, I’m worried that the movie is gonna be a setback for North Korean people. I’m more interested in hearing the media talk about how North Korean people are working on a revolution, and I’d like the media to pay attention to them, rather than for the world just to dismiss North Korea, yet again, as a crazy dictatorship controlled by a guy who doesn’t poop and who speaks to dolphins.
In other words, I think the movie is going to unfortunately bring the focus to North Korea’s bad government rather than its good people, and I hope it doesn’t prevent people from wanting to help out with the North Korean people’s desire for freedom.
We didn’t get a chance to do Music Mondays for a couple of weeks since we’ve been out of the country, so we didn’t get a chance to announce the winners of the signed Boyfriend CDs. No more! Here are the winners!
If you’re one of the winners, send us a message, and we’ll find a way to confirm it’s you (so stop trying to cheat, you cheaters!) and we’ll send out your CD ASAP! Woohoo!
Thank you everyone for participating. We also hope you liked the video we did with Boyfriend. It was super fun to film! We’d love to keep on doing silly vids like that in the future :D
Woohoo! Another week, another LiveChat, and we had a lot of fun stuff to open this week. The chips! The cookies! The dolls! The mochi! Thanks for hanging out with us as we opened a bunch of stuff. Special thanks to all of the awesome packages from:
Joanna and Jane from Boston
Sarah N from Pennsylvania (thanks AGAIN!!!)
Kirsten Hong Tai from Vancouver
HOLY SMOKES we’re gonna have so much fun with those dolls. What’s it called when you make stuff with yarn? Yarning? Or is that crocheting? Or is crocheting something else? Martina just talked about Crocheting in yesterday’s TL;DR. Hmm. Freaky coincidence.
Also, we opened up some of the smaller packages off camera, because we’re worried about them melting before we get the chance to open them, now that summer is almost in full effect. We’re gonna try to find a cool spot in the studio where our boxes will be safer, but – being on the top floor – our studio’s pretty freaking hot all around. Here’s some more of the stuff we opened. Thank you to Lin and Emily for the lovely packages. Here are the pics! So much CHOOOOCCOOOLLAATTTTEEEEEEEE LOOOOVVEEEE from Belgium including awesome flavours like Ginger-Lemon, Orange Peel, and even (we think) grape? SO DELICIOUS!
I’d also like to say how inspired I am by the colour coding in the boxes. Green Region boxes, Yellow Region boxes: it’s really awesome stuff. The coloured food and packages are AMAZING! How do you even find that much colour coded stuff?? We’re honoured that anyone wants to send us anything to begin with, but to see that you’re all putting this much thought into it is really touching. Thank you.
If you missed out on this week’s LiveChat live, make sure you click on the pretty button below so you don’t ever have to again. Yay!
So, we tend to do these TL;DRs whenever we come back from traveling. We’ve done them on Australia, Japan, Europe, and Toronto. Now for one on Beijing and China. Hooray! I’m sure we’ll do one comparing LA’s Koreatown to Korea’s, umm, Koreacountry when we get back at the end of the month!
Back to Beijing, though, apart from the things we mentioned, there were a few other things we found…
We’ve filmed our TL;DR, but because of our video with Boyfriend yesterday we’re a bit behind our publishing schedule for today, so we’ll publish the TL;DR tomorrow. Sorry for the delay! We’ll post the video as soon as we can!
So, this is something we’ve been working on for quite a while now. It’s something we’ve always thought about, and today’s the day we’re finally going live with it. This is many months in the works. Allow us to introduce to you: the Eatyourkimchi Premium Nasty!
His eye is actually really bad lately. He’s got pink eye, poor guy! The vet gave us drops to take care of it, but it’s not looking so good. They’ll determine on Friday if they can fix it or if they have to remove it :( Yarrr! Watch out for Pirate Spudge, the fiercest peke on the seven seas!
I tried to register for the comments on the eatyourkimchi website, still haven't recieved my password e-mail :( I tried the "forgot password" button as well. It's been at least 10 hours, still no mail :O I would like to comment, what do I doooo ~~
I’m really sorry for the delay! Our website has a limited amount of emails we can send out per day, and we got a flood of people registering at once. While it’s awesome, we kinda capped out on our limit. Eep! We should be back to normal soon. Hang tight!
Hi guise! And welcome to the new comment system on Eatyourkimchi! We hope you like it. Let us know what you think in our new comments below! But first, we’re gonna talk a bit more about Infinite’s “Last Romeo” for this week’s Kpop Music Monday! Check out the video if you haven’t seen it yet:
Just a quick update on Music Monday: it’s gonna be a bit odd and short today. We were in the middle of filming when our fire alarms went off. We packed all of our stuff and ran for it. So, we couldn’t film our skits. Just talking today. Sorry!
If you’re wondering about the fire, it wasn’t an actual fire. 119 (aka 911) found that it was something wrong with the wiring in the system. Our building’s been acting really wonky lately, with our ceiling leaking a lot and our electric boxes buzzing profusely. So…we didn’t take any chances and canonballed out of the studio, with Spudgy and laptops in hand.
Martina bought this thing right here. Isn’t it obvious? She buys all of the Hello Kitty stuff we have: Hello Kitty foot warmers, and now Hello Kitty hand soap magnets. Funny thing, though, which sounds ridiculous at first, but all of the stuff that we’ve got for the studio that’s Hello Kitty related we actually use quite a lot. That foot warmer we did a video on we fought over…
So, right off the get go let me say that this soup is much easier to make than 순두부찌개 Soft Tofu Stew aka Soondubu Jjigae. It doesn’t require any oil or any cooking of meat in the pot ahead of time. The main flavour comes from the strong taste of Korean soy bean paste know as dwenjang 된장. It is not the same as Japanese miso although it does use the same base ingredient which is soy bean. Miso has a…
So, in our video we talked a bit about what it’s like to come to Korea without a partner, and how Korea is a very social place with not that many things you can do on your own. There are a few things you can do on your own, like – errr…batting cages? – but for social outings, winging it on your own isn’t really that doable.
So, I talked about a lot of things in this video about X-Men: Days of Future Past. There were a lot of spoilers in that video, so don’t watch it if you haven’t seen the movie yet, and don’t read this post either, because there are more spoilers. I talked about a bunch of points, but I skipped out on a few. They’re just quibbles, really, but here are some more things that stuck out for me:
Just wanted to give a quick update: we couldn’t film Kpop Music Monday today. We’re flying out to Beijing on Wednesday morning, and we still didn’t prepare the animals, pack our luggage, and our presentation for the event there is still, umm, not finished. Sorry! Our TL;DR, FAPFAP, WTF, and another video are almost finished, though!
Question to anyone in Beijing, though: I’m not sure if what we read about the weather is right, but is it ball-sweatingly hot there now? It’s supposed to be 40 this week?! So should we just pack thongs or more revealing clothing?
Don’t front, these English slang flashcards are fresh-to-death, son. In case you haven’t seen the lunacy that is the Knock Knock deck of Slang Flashcards, here’s what they look like:
Each card covers a word or phrase and is accompanied by an amazing line drawing of Pleasantville residents busting out ’90s-era slang. The expressions aren’t as cutting edge as, say, ratchet or basic, but they were…
